There are many techniques a photographer can use to focus attention on a subject in a photograph. One way is to use color. You can use really drastic opposing colors to create focus on one object. You could also use a consistant color throughout the photo to pull in one big object of that color. Another technique you can use is lighting. A light source in front of or coming from behind the subject can emphasize it. Also lighting can produce strong shadows on the subject, enhancing the focus on it. Another way to focus attention on a subject is what angle the photograph was taken at.
