2)      Cabbage Leaf, 1931

·        The lighting highlights the dramatization of the grooves and texture of the cabbage

·        A small simple object is made into a large, interesting subject

·        The lines are smooth and flowing carrying the eye throughout the photo

3)      Shell & Rock, 1931

·        Clear focal point

·        Dramatic color difference makes the shell pop

·        Sharp edges of the shell work well with the rolling edges of the rocks

4)      There was such a variety of subjects and scales of subjects. The photos are crisp and enticing. The textures are so vivid and attention-grabbing.

5)      Weston can shoot a range of things and make them an interesting photograph. He photographs things from vegetables to toiles to textures to landscapes.

Weston knows what angles to be at to emphasize the subject.

He knows where to make the light hit an object to accentuate certain parts of a subject.

6)      What makes a good photograph is an interesting subject, proper lighting or shadowing, correct placement and angling, and focus in the right areas.
